Requirement/Eligibility

To be considered for the 2025 PLAC Legislative Internship Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a Nigerian citizen.
  • Must have completed a degree in any discipline (minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required).
  • Must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
  • Must demonstrate a strong interest in Nigeria’s democratic development, public policy, law, or governance.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Must be available to fully commit to the entire duration of the internship in Abuja.
  • Prior experience in policy research, advocacy, or civic engagement will be considered an added advantage.
  • Must not be above 35 years of age at the time of application.
  • Must submit a complete application package, including a CV and a personal statement.

Duration

The internship will run for eight weeks at the National Assembly in Abuja. Interns are expected to relocate to Abuja for the full period and be available for daily in-person assignments, meetings, and project tasks. It is a fully structured and immersive experience designed to simulate a real professional legislative environment.

Salary

While this internship is unpaid in terms of a monthly salary, PLAC offers stipends to cover transportation and lunch expenses throughout the eight-week period. Additionally, selected interns will benefit from free training sessions, mentoring, and exclusive access to policy dialogue events. The value of the experience and network built through this program far outweighs any financial compensation.
