Requirements/Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the NL-High Potential Scholarships, applicants must meet several key criteria:

  • Hold nationality in a country outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Surinam, and fulfill the requirements for obtaining an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands.
  • Not hold double nationality from an EU/EEA country.
  • Apply for admission to a full-time Master’s programme at Maastricht University for the 2025-2026 academic year.
  • Meet the specific admission requirements for the chosen Master’s programme.
  • Have never participated in a degree-seeking higher education programme in the Netherlands, although those who completed exchange programmes are welcome to apply.
  • Be under 35 years of age on 1 September 2025.
  • Demonstrate academic excellence with outstanding results from prior education, as indicated by the latest grade transcript.
